Olukoyi of Ikoyi Stool: We have not announced a new monarch – Community

Sequel to the demise of the Olukoyi of Ikoyi land in Isokan South Local Council Development Area of Osun State, Oba Yisau Bantale Otunla, Kodaolu 1, the community leaders yesterday condemned in totality the action of some individuals who went ahead to announce the new monarch on social media without waiting for an official announcement from the kingmakers and Government officials.

The community during a press conference addressed by the Asiwaju of Ikoyi land, Dr Hamid Kolawole Raheem, said no official announcement has ever been made as to who will fill the vacant stool of Olukoyi after the demise of Oba Otunla.

Dr Raheem noted that the said faceless individuals have jumped the normal procedure in announcing the new candidate of the ancient town on social media without waiting to hear from the horse’s mouth.

The Asiwaju of Ikoyi land who said that the entire Ikoyi community dissociate themselves from the social media information added that the normal due process shall be followed in announcing the new candidate for the town when it is time.

The community leader however apologised to the government on embarrassment the wrong social media information might have caused while urging the entire residents to continue to be peaceful and be law abiding.

Also at the press conference were, the Asalu of Ikoyi land, High Chief Akinola A.O, the Aro of Ikoyi land, High Chief Oladapo Oladeji, Comrade Faniyi Ademola Ojo, the NULGE Chairman, Isokan South Local Council Development Area of Osun State among others.
