National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Damagu Umar has confirmed that Edo State has not yet selected a candidate for the position of Deputy Governor.

Damagu’s statement on Monday morning came amidst speculations and uncertainties surrounding the party’s internal crisis in the state.

The clarification from the PDP National Chairman puts to rest lingering doubts regarding the status of the deputy governorship candidacy in Edo State.

According to the party’s Acting National Chairman, “It underscores the importance of transparent and inclusive processes within the party as it navigates through crucial political decisions leading up to the forthcoming elections.”

“As stakeholders and party members await further developments, the focus remains on fostering unity and coherence within the PDP ranks in Edo State, ensuring that the party presents a united front ahead of the electoral contest”, he said.

But, last week, it was announced that the current Secretary to Edo State Government, Barrister Osarodion Ogie has been selected as the Deputy Governorship candidate to Dr. Asue Ighodalo.

Our reporter further put a call across to Barrister Osarodion Ogie, which he also confirmed to be true.
