NGO to train women on open mapping

The Delighted Women Development Initiative (DWDI) in collaboration with the Association for the Welfare of Women Liberians is organizing an International Women’s Day 2024 event with the theme “INSPIRE INCLUSION” on March 21st, 2024, at the Lagos National Library of Nigeria.

According to the Convener, Bafamodei Hopeful, the Executive Director of (DWDI) “the event aims to focus on education, empowerment, and the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)

” It will also feature activities like an Open Mapping Training Session, a Keynote Address by Preet Kukreja from Director of Population and Public Health Initiatives St John’s Episcopal Hospital New York, a Panel Discussion, Workshop, and a Questions and Answer Session.

“This initiative seeks to bring together experts, advocates, and community members to discuss crucial issues related to women’s education and empowerment while fostering inclusivity in society.

“Participants will have the opportunity to learn open geospatial skills, particularly open street mapping, enabling them to contribute to open map data for societal development and positive change,’ Hopeful said.
