BYSIEC reiterates commitment to credible poll come April 6

The Bayelsa state Independent Electoral Commission has reiterated its commitment and dedication to conducting a transparent, credible, and peaceful April 6, 2024 local government area elections.

During a visit to Mr Peter Singabele, by the Women Organized for Mentorship and Advocacy Network (WOMAN), represented by a Commissioner Chief Remember Ogbe, plans for the elections were discussed, emphasizing collaboration with stakeholders for a successful and credible poll.

Ogbe, who welcomed WOMAN’s initiative, emphasized the Commission’s dedication to collaborating with stakeholders for a successful election process in Bayelsa State.

He noted that, this commitment aligns with Governor Douye Diri’s call for credible local government polls, and BYSIEC will conduct transparent and fair elections.

The interactions between WOMAN and BYSIEC reflect a shared goal of promoting civic engagement and voter education in preparation for the upcoming local government election scheduled for April 6.

Earlier, Lady Eunice Nnachi, the Executive Director of WOMAN, emphasized the importance of civic engagement and voter education, seek to collaborate on promoting voter turnout for the upcoming local government election.

Nnachi said, WOMAN is a non-governmental organization, focuses on community development and family support aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.

She emphasized the WOMAN”s commitment to promoting the public interest and serving the community,

She stated that, WOMAN focus area, include mentorship, social, advocacy, and human rights work to showcase the organization’s contribution to the society.

She further addressed the potential for partnership opportunities between WOMAN and BYSIEC to enhance citizenship participation and community development.

Nnachi who appreciated the commission for the gesture, emphasized the NGO’s role in promoting social or political change on both a broad and local scale, underlining the significance of NGOs in fostering positive social development on the community level.
