FG splashes millions on innovative civil servants

Federal Government has splashed millions of naira on outstanding civil servants who have distinguished themselves with innovative ideas towards improving the Nigerian Civil Service.

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan disclosed this on Monday during the official award presentation ceremony of cash prizes at the Federal Ministry of Works, Abuja.

As presented by the HoS, the first position was awarded the sum of N3,000,000, the first runner-up N1,750,000, while the second runner–up got N1,000,000. “Ten other innovators will receive the sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200, 000) each as consolation prizes,” Yemi-Easn added.

The award which was the 4th in series since its inception in 2020, had participants completed within the scope of: Reward and Performance Management, Mentorship and Succession Planning; Talent Management and Knowledge Transfer through E-Learning.

Congratulating the awardees, the Head of Service noted that innovation in Public Service is essential to keep up with the pace of global change. “By investing and promoting a culture and ecosystem for innovation to thrive, the Public Service can retain and attract the best talents in a competitive labour market,” she said.

In his remarks, Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani commended the Head of service for her many innovative ideas being initiated in the civil service.

He advised that innovation should not be exclusively reserved for the private sector, as those in the public service must begin to work to embrace innovation for progressive implementation of government policies.
