50 Women Begin Training on natural organic products, others in Anambra

The National Directorate of Employment,NDE, has commenced training for 50 women on natural organic products,Beads/Stones Works and perfumery making as a source of economic empowerments.

In an Address by the Anambra state coordinator of NDE, Mrs. Chika Ufelle during the opening ceremony of the training in Awka yesterday said the programme was being introduced because economic empowerment of women is central to the women’s ability to overcome poverty, cope with shocks and improve their well being.

According to her, when women realize their economic goals, whether in growing a business, improving their homes or investing in training or education, they will be more resilient and able to provide for themselves and their families.

” So, the training strategy was tailored to ensure that women are not trapped in poverty.” She noted.

She further said that the training conformed with the programme of women employment branch of NDE which focused on increasing women’s skills, both vocational and entrepreneurial, increase their decision making power and access to economic resources.

Ufelle reiterated that similar training is taking place in the the 36 states of the federation and promised that more training will come before the end of the year.

She urged the trainees to take the exercise seriously reminding them that “the success of the economy is not measured by high-rise buildings in the cities but in the robustness of the economy.”

The Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo who was represented by Mrs. Augustina Chikala, Director NDE, said this was why the main thrust of the programmes of the Directorate is hinged on skills acquisition, enterprise development and rural based.

However, the State Coordinator equally thanked the Director General of the NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo for approving the trainings and facilitating their take off across the country.
