A political group within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, The Progressives Conscience (TPC), yesterday urged the leadership of the party in the state to cede the House of Representatives ticket to Dr. Thomas Ogungbangbe, whom it described as a philanthropist who can complement the efforts of Gov. Gboyega Oyetola in his bid to take the state to the greater heights.
The group, in a statement signed by its Coordinator in Obokun/Oriade Constituency, Comrade Ibukun Ademikanre Ibukun and made available to our Correspondent in Osogbo, requested the APC to allow Dr Ogungbangbe to represent Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Assembly.
The group said, going by the antecedents of Ogungbangbe, the people of the constituency are seriously in need of a man of his caliber for their total liberation and emancipation.
Ademikanre said the stakeholders of the party, majority who are members of the group, took the decision to support the business magnate following separate meetings held recently in each of the two Local Government Areas of the constituency and have unanimously asked him to run.
He said that their decision was hinged on the Philanthropic gesture of Ogungbangbe across different parts of the country and people-oriented programmes.
He said Ogungbangbe, who is an aviation expert and CEO of CITA Group, is an experienced world class Business Manager and entrepreneur with demonstrated achievements in value creation in key industries.
“We need him because we have the belief that he is the only person, going by his antecedents, that can liberate us.
“Independent findings also revealed that most people of Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency are thirsting for his presence and representation for better development of the constituency.
“He is a silent achiever who has impacted greatly on the lives of many Nigerians regardless of tribal or religious affiliations.” he said
Enumerating some of the impactful projects of the philanthropist cum politician, the TPC coordinator listed, the construction of N245 million worth of road at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Makia, Reconstruction of two classrooms at C&S School Iragbiji, Authentic Nigeria Football Supporters’ club, VCN Sports international-Table tennis court for RCCG traffic squad.
Rehabilitation of C&S primary school Iragbiji, donation of funds to the Congress of Nigeria youth, distribution of Rice and other stuffs as Covid 19 relief to Nigeria police Force and Petroleum Tankers Drivers, donation of funds to the Yoruba Youth Assembly, construction of badminton court for the disabled, 1000 bags of rice and 1000 bags of beans as palliative to all the local government areas in Osun State, distribution of sanitary pads to female inmates in Kirikiri and Ilesha correctional facilities, donation of refueling kits to Nigeria Air Force in Munguno, Borno state, donation of $100,000 research grant to University of Ilorin to undertake the study of Microbial Contamination of Aviation Fuel, published by Lambert Academic Publishers of Germany among others.
They therefore urged the leadership of the party to take a look at their demand by giving the tickets of the House of Representatives, Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency to their choice candidate.
