The Kaduna State Chapter of the Labour Party, (LP) has affirmed Former National President of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union, (SOKAPU) Hon. Jonathan Asake as her candidate, in the forth coming 2023 general elections.
Hon. Jonathan was affirmed, during the Substitutioal Party primary held by labour party in Kaduna, after his major ticket contender, Hon. Shunom Adinga, officially stepped down with promises to give full support for the party against any personal interest or ambition.
Speaking at the event, Adinga noted that he has the ambition to govern kaduna state with his best ideaology and the principle of governance, but he believes that “for us to gain back our insanity, I will step down for my brother and friend. My personal interest will not supersede the interest of the party, therefore I will give every support needed for success to Hon. Jonathan Asake. I will govern effectively but we will govern kaduna state more effectively with him.” He said.
The Chairman of the electoral Committee, Comrade Austine Aniagu, commended the smooth process of the electioneering, adding that Labour Party remains the bride of all.
He said: “I am very much happy that Labour Party in Kaduna State can unite together as one against all odds, expressed that the aspirants have shown the spirit of oneness and the Obi-dient character for the good of all.
“Without doubt, I can see the Obi-dient character in all of us. I want to appreciate every delegate for calmness patience and the good conduct so far. I equally want to congratulate the courage of Labour Party Kaduna state. Labour Party has a reward system from the day one we that we started this project. We made up our mind that we will nurture LP as our baby and we won’t let it die. This has been our strength even till this moment. He added.
The Guber candidate, Hon Asake while reacting to the gesture from his opponent, said “This victory I have today would not have been possible without you, Hon. Shunom Adinga. This is an attempt to rescue the state and I want to let you know that with your support we can have the Kaduna State of our dream.
“Also, you delegates has proven to be selfless considering how things are falling apart in kaduna and the country at large to ensure that justice prevail at all costs. I want to let you know that you will receive hope for new Nigeria. I will change kaduna state because I am not going to be a sectional leader but a Governor for all.
“For now we will march towards sensitizing the people, door to door, Community to Community in other to ensure Nigerians breath a fresh air of prosperity inclusiveness and justice. This sensitization is going to be very aggressive so as to take back kaduna state and by extension the country, come 2023.”He added
