She bestrode the political landscape of Adamawa State within a very short time. She become the darling of not only the women folks of Adamawa State but even the men simply because of her dexterity as a politician, that is always at the door step of the common man and woman.
The political trajectory of Adamawa State cannot be mentioned without the name of Aishatu Ahmed Binani, which clearly aroused the mindset of the people, that political office is really an avenue for one to contribute to nation building and nothing more than that.
Her foray into the political wilderness started when contested under the Peoples Democratic Party for the seat of member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Yola-North, Yola-South and Gerei federal constituency and won convincingly with votes thereby paving the way for her to prove to the discerning minds, that she is a worthy representative.
It is on record, that Aishatu Ahmed Binani’s tenure at the green chamber of the National Assembly was very remarkable for touching the lives of the people though her main duty to make laws for the good governance of the people and the people feel the impact of her stewardship as a member representing the three major Local Governments in the central zone of Adamawa State.
She broke the jinx hitherto associated with keeping the people in the dark. Throughout her stay at the green chamber, she assiduously worked round the clock to bring the much touted dividend of democracy to the people of the three Local Governments.
Her performance at the house further endear her to not only the people of her constituency, but the entire people of the state as many empowerment programmes were put in place as many young men and women were trained in various skill ventures like tailoring, shoe making mechanical, block making and accessories of different trades were also distributed to the beneficiaries. She recontested again for the seat at the green under a different political flatform Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) but was not lucky as such, she delved into serious business spinning ventures under the Binani Group of Companies that saw her opening many business frontiers.
She made a comeback to politics by joining the All Progressive Congress and contested for the Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone in 2019. She won the election with a convincing lead and was sworn in as the Senator representing the Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone where she is present now.
She has so far prove her mentle at the red chamber with excessive debate and presentation of motions, that has impacted on the people of not only the Central Senatorial Zone but the entire state as a whole. It is to her credit, that the former Federal University of Technology was renamed as Modibbo Adamawa University of Technology as well as becoming a conventional University where various courses should be run in the University.
Also, she tabled before the Senate the need for the Federal Medical Centre to be converted into Modibbo Adama Teaching Hospital which the Senate graciously approved and the President Muhammadu Buhari, assented to the bill.
He embarked on various social empowerment programmes that a lot of young boys and girls has benefited. Cash empowerment was also undertaken by this great woman of substance. In some cases, cash was given to a lot of indigent citizens to start the business of their choice thereby reducing the number of crime rate in the state.
Senator Aishatu Ahmed.Binani, is a lioness having contested in the primaries of the All Progressives Congress with four men but resoundingly defeated them becoming the gubernatorial candidate of the party for the 2023 election.
She polled a total delegate votes of 430, Malam Nuhu Ribadu got 288 votes, the former Governor of the state Bindow Jibrilla, polled 103 votes, Umar Mustapha aka Otunba of Ekiti got 39 votes while Wafari Thema got 21 votes respectively.
With this resounding victory at the primaries, the lioness has broken the barrier of gender based violence against women so to say.
Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani, will no doubt be in the race with the incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintri, of the Peoples Democratic Party and from all indication is going to give a fierce battle for the present Governor Ahmadu Fintri and the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Dr Umar Ardo.
The success of this amazon in the final stage in 2023 will be a litmus test for the Nigeria woman where ever she may be.
