Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang has commended the efforts of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, for her operational mechanism and tactics in providing security for the people of Mangu, Bokkos and Barkin Ladi.

Addressing the 2022 Regular Intake at the Passing out Parade Ceremony as the Guest of Honour at the Command Headquarters of the NSCDC in Plateau State; Mutfwang lauded the Commandant General Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi for providing actionable policies that have enhanced the achievements of the Corps in providing security for the good people of Plateau State and the nation at large.

According to NSCDC press release, the Plateau State Governor who was represented by his Senior Special Adviser on Security, Brigadier General GG Shipi (Rtd) said: “With all sense of responsibility and courage the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has been one of the most dependable and reliable security agencies that have come to the aid of Plateau people since our trying times.

“The Civil Defence took the bull by the horns through the deployment of the Agro Rangers Special Forces since the inception of the crisis and these steps have gone a long way in stabilizing the situation in Mangu, Bokkos and other encumbered local Governments of the State.”

He further charged the Officers and men to be wholly committed and loyal to the nation especially as they undertake the herculean task of combating insecurity and restoring peace, law and order to various communities as the case may be.

In his remarks, the NSCDC Commandant General said, the training of the personnel in the special Agro-Ranger Squad was part of efforts being emplaced by the Corps to curb the prevailing security situation in Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole specifically in the areas of tackling herders’/farmers’ conflicts.

He noted that Plateau State which was regarded as the “Home of Peace and Tourism” has been confronted with security threats occasioned by incessant violent attacks linked to disputes between the local farming communities and herders.

“These incessant attacks therefore call for the emplacement of additional security measures aimed at effectively checkmating this ugly trend considering the importance of Plateau State as a potential tourist hub to drive the National economy…” the CG Audi added.

Delivering his welcome address, the Plateau State Commandant, Alexander Bissa Barunde hinted that the Corps in collaboration with the State Government and other Sister Security Agencies are ready to establish strategic operational bases in various flashpoints in the State to enhance quick response.

Barunde explained that the personnel have undergone comprehensive training which lasted for six months equipping them not only with technical skills but also with psychosocial and emotional intelligence necessary for effective non-kinetic responses.

At the highpoint of the occasion, there were goodwill messages from the GOC 3Div, Nigeria Army and STF Commander, Major General A.E Abubakar, ably represented by the Garrison Commander Brigadier General M.K Sanda, The Commissioner of Police CP Hassan Stephen Yabnet FCID psc(+), Plateau State Command and the Emir of Kanam, HRH Alhaji Muhammad Muazu Muhammad.
