*threatens sympathy strike

The National Union of Postal and Telecommunications Employees ( NUPTE) has said it may be forced to join other affiliates of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to embark on a strike action should the Federal government refuses to resolved to prolong strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

This was contained in a statement by NUPTE national president, Comrade Buba, Nehemiah Gbajunne

The Union condemned what it described as “the leisezz- faire attitudes of the Government to the lingering Industrial dispute in Nigeria’s Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and Research Institutes of our Education sector.”

The Union said it is against this action of the government which has kept Students at home for months

The statement reads further, “it is so disheartening that this crisis has left the Nigerian Students to be vulnerable to crime, as most Students are Children from the poor families struggling to earn a living.

“NUPTE hereby call on the Federal Government to put an end to this inhuman act and returned the Education sector to normalcy with immediate effect.”
